Ruth Ban

Associate Professor of Education

Barry University in Miami Shores, FL

Ruth Ban holds a PhD in Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida. She is currently an Associate Professor of Education at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. She has taught TESOL courses to undergraduate and graduate students in Florida for over a decade. Prior to her experience in Florida, Dr. Ban was a full time professor at the Aguascalientes State University in Mexico where she taught in the linguistics area of the BAELT. Her research interests include the teaching and learning of young learners in public primary schools and EFL teacher and professional identity.

Peter Medgyes

Professor Emeritus of Applied Linguistics and Language Pedagogy

Eötvös Loránd University Budapest

Péter Medgyes, CBE, is Professor Emeritus of Applied Linguistics and Language Pedagogy at Eötvös Loránd University Budapest. During his career he was a schoolteacher, teacher trainer, vice rector, deputy state secretary, ambassador of Hungary and Vice President of IATEFL. He was a plenary speaker in 45 countries and is the author of numerous articles and books, including The Non-Native Teacher (Macmillan, 1994, winner of the Duke of Edinburgh Book Competition), The Language Teacher (Corvina, 1997), Laughing Matters (Cambridge University Press, 2002), Golden Age: Twenty Years of Foreign Language Education in Hungary (National Textbook Publishing Company, 2011) and Reflections on Language Education (2015, Eötvös Publishing House). His main professional interests lie in language policy and teacher education, with a special emphasis on nonnative English speaking teachers. He can be reached at pmedgy@gmail.com.

Sunaina Singh

Vice Chancellor

The English and Foreign Languages University

Prof. Sunaina Singh is the foremost woman Vice Chancellor in India, and South Asian region, heading a Central/National University. She is also the first Indian woman to head as the President of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, the bi-national research organization (New Delhi and Calgary). She brings with her a mix of integrity, scholarship and competence, with an impeccable and proven track record of able and visionary administration that has enabled her to excel in her leadership role. Among the many awards and honours that Prof. Singh has received, special mention should be made of the prestigious Chanakya Award for Excellence in Good Governance, by the Public Relations Council of India, in association with the Press Club of Mumbai, at the 8th Global Communication Conclave (2014). Her recent awards, (in 2014) include the prestigious Woman of the Year Award, from Citizens Council of Andhra Pradesh, the Award for outstanding contribution to Education, presented by the World Education Congress, and the Education Leadership Award, presented by Dewang Mehta Business School, Mumbai. She is also the recipient of Rashtriya Gaurav Award (2011) for her outstanding contribution to higher education, the India Studies National Chair at Shanghai University, China (nominated by ICCR in 2010), the Postdoctoral Faculty Research Award (2005), from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Canada, and the Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship Award (1984). Her leadership is endorsed by the Certificate on International Leadership by National College of Nottingham, U.K., in 2013.

Currently, as a member-designate of several distinguished national and international academic committees, Prof. Singh is involved in the challenging task of restructuring and reformulating university pedagogical systems. An acclaimed Professor of English and an able administrator, Prof. Singh presents a rare blend of excellence in the area of higher education. As an empathetic leader, she touches many hearts and inspires many as an able leader.  She is widely known for her leadership and integrity.
